Restorative Dentistry
The strength, function, and appearance of your smile are significant factors in maintaining optimal physical and emotional wellbeing. At some point in life, everyone will experience either having a cavity, a cracked or chipped tooth, and/or perhaps even tooth loss. These issues can greatly affect your oral health, diet, speech, as well as one’s self-esteem. A quality dental restoration makes it seem as if nothing ever were amiss with your smile in the first place, and that’s what we are able to achieve for our patients.
Elements Dental Studio can transform your oral health, enhance the function of your teeth, and improve the appearance of your smile. Restorative dentistry is an art and science that needs meticulous care and precision to reproduce the shape, size, form, and color of the restored teeth. We use high-quality materials to provide dental restorations that appear natural and are made to withstand the normal wear and tear of everyday use. By using the latest materials and techniques, we can help teeth look and function as they did prior to injury or decay.
Dr. Berman’s main focus is to ensure that the mouth is functioning properly, while also improving the overall look of your smile. It is imperative that Dr. Berman have a complete understanding of the problem before offering any solutions. She recognizes the possibility of, some not so obvious, underlying contributing factors, to consider before treatment. Teeth clenching, grinding, and dietary issues may cause functional limitations or impact the health of the teeth and gums. Utilizing her careful and thoughtful whole-body approach allows for the discovery of any underlying causes for a patient’s dental issues. We provide restorative dentistry services to local residents, including: Evanston, IL | Kenilworth, IL | Lincolnwood, IL | Rogers Park, IL | Skokie, IL | Wilmette, IL
FILLINGS
Fillings are used to repair a tooth damaged by decay, cracks, and minor fractures. Tooth-colored fillings are called composite fillings. The tooth will be numbed, thoroughly cleaned of decay, and carefully prepared for the new filling. Once the tooth is prepared, the filling will be precisely placed, sculpted, and polished, restoring your tooth to its original shape and function.
CROWNS
A crown (or cap) is a covering that encases the entire tooth, restoring it to its original shape and size. Crowns are a good treatment option when the integrity of a given tooth has been damaged to the point where fillings or other types of restorations cannot properly repair it.
Placing a crown will generally require two appointments. At the first appointment, the dentist will numb the tooth, remove decay, and shape the remaining surface to properly fit the crown. A mold, or impression, will then be taken of the tooth for creating your custom crown. The dentist will cement a temporary crown in place and check your bite to ensure that it has been properly placed. This will function for you as a normal tooth for about two weeks while your permanent crown is fabricated in a dental laboratory. Once the permanent crown is finished, you will return to the dentist’s office to have your new crown carefully set in place. The high durability of crowns helps them to last many years, but they may eventually need to be replaced.
