Teeth Whitening
Achieving a brighter smile is now the top cosmetic concern for many patients. Luckily, tooth whitening, also known as bleaching, is a simple, non-invasive dental treatment that can help you achieve this goal. Whitening treatment works on natural tooth enamel, so any other cosmetic or restorative procedures planned for the front teeth should be done after whitening. There are two options for whitening, either using custom-made trays at home or in-office treatments.
Dental Cleanings
At Elements Dental Studio in Rogers Park, we offer comprehensive preventive services for our patients. During a cleaning, we remove tartar and plaque and polish the teeth to eliminate any remaining stains. We believe that good dental hygiene is the foundation of optimal oral health, which is why we place a strong emphasis on cleanings and exams. These basic but essential treatments help us keep your mouth healthy and prevent future issues from arising. Every cleaning at our practice is thorough and personalized to meet your unique needs.
Cosmetic Dentistry
Cosmetic dental procedures are aimed at improving the appearance of your teeth and smile. There are a variety of procedures available to address any cosmetic concern. It is always important to remember that the health of your smile must be considered prior to any cosmetic procedure. Having the appropriate balance between health and cosmetics will allow you to maintain a beautiful smile for a lifetime.
Veneers
Dental veneers can both improve your smile and protect it from damage with minimal impact on natural tooth structure. Our dentists can help restore your confidence and improve your smile’s appearance with veneers. This dental technique can correct noticeable flaws such as chips, cracks, stains/discolorations and unevenness between teeth. Veneers may simply revitalize teeth that look old or worn-down.
Dental Fillings
Fillings are used to repair a tooth damaged by decay, cracks, and minor fractures. Tooth-colored fillings are called composite fillings. The tooth will be numbed, thoroughly cleaned of decay, and carefully prepared for the new filling. Once the tooth is prepared, the filling will be precisely placed, sculpted, and polished, restoring your tooth to its original shape and function.
Dental Bonding
Dental bonding is a procedure in which a tooth-colored resin material (a durable plastic material) is applied and hardened with a special light, which ultimately “bonds” the material to the tooth to restore or improve person’s smile. Bonding is also fairly non-invasive and can usually be completed in one visit at our office, which serves patients of Rogers Park.
Dental Implants
Dental implants provide a single site permanent solution for missing teeth. The implant procedure has two phases: In the first phase, one of our Rogers Park dentists or periodontists uses imaging to assess the quality of the bone. Molds are taken to ensure that the implant is placed in the optimal location. The dentist or periodontist places a titanium screw (the implant) into the jaw bone. This titanium screw integrates into the bone and acts as the root of the tooth. After a period of 3-4 months, the implant will be completely integrated into the bone. Once complete healing of the implant is verified, the dentist will begin the process of fabricating a custom abutment (connection piece) and crown. The end result will be a beautiful and natural looking artificial tooth.
Crowns
A crown (or cap) is a covering that encases the entire tooth, restoring it to its original shape and size. Crowns are a good treatment option when the integrity of a given tooth has been damaged to the point where fillings or other types of restorations cannot properly repair it. Placing a crown will generally require two appointments. At the first appointment, the dentist will numb the tooth, remove decay, and shape the remaining surface to properly fit the crown. A mold, or impression, will then be taken of the tooth for creating your custom crown. The dentist will cement a temporary crown in place and check your bite to ensure that it has been properly placed. This will function for you as a normal tooth for about two weeks while your permanent crown is fabricated in a dental laboratory. Once the permanent crown is finished, you will return to the dentist’s office to have your new crown carefully set in place. The high durability of crowns helps them to last many years, but they may eventually need to be replaced.
